Projects Suited to Local Needs
Perenco is committed along local communities to support human, cultural and economic development in all our subsidiaries. This is part of the company’s societal approach. In practical terms Perenco’s contribution often consists in helping with building and developing a much-needed infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, administrative buildings, healthcare institutions or schools.
For example, Perenco has financed the construction of Douz administrative building in Tunisia, thereby promoting local people's access to collective services and saving them from having to go to Kebili, the governorate.
In Guatemala, Perenco supported projects of educational infrastructure in the regions of Petén, Alta Verapaz and Izabal, as well as road and bridge projects, thereby facilitating transports for local populations.
In the UK, Perenco funded the new communication antenna serving the Kimmeridge site, thereby enabling local people and businesses to access high-speed connection services.
In the same year, Perenco co-financed a new automated level crossing to improve the Swanage railway service in Wareham.
Access to Energy for the Largest Number
Making energy accessible to the largest possible number of people is an integral part of our commitment to take part to local communities’ development, particularly in extremely remote areas.
In the Moyen-Ogooué region of Gabon - 160 km South-East of Libreville – the village of Batanga has benefited from our facilities. Perenco has been able to supply over 80 homes with electrical power by installing buried cables connected to our generators.
In the DRC, our electric power plant (powered by our gas production) can supply the National Water Company and the city network, thereby covering the needs of 200,000 Muanda inhabitants.
